Preventative care – a plan to promote self-insured auto repair - with help from BG Products -A company that is so sure of their product formulations, they will help pay the bill if something does go wrong. See below for details and follow the link at bottom for exact terms.
While this program is not new, we have realized that we need to make this a prominent piece of our mission of “Peace of Mind in Auto Repair.”
What brought this about? In the “olden days” vehicles were not made as well as they are today, and they weren’t as expensive. Many times when a major problem happened, a customer would just trade it. Today, vehicles are more expensive, and they are better made.
Due to the prevalence of car repair insurance and the many companies that do their best to avoid paying when they should, we have come to the following realization: instead of buying one of those policies, our customers could be far better off putting their money in the bank. With proper maintenance – using BG Products they would have some help with expenses if something major does go wrong. If nothing major, the money is there for other life emergencies… The BG protection will subsidize the cost of the repair when recommended fluid services have been performed. Lifetime protection for your vehicle! (See the plan for exact details)
We have recently learned that many manufacturers, in order to convince consumers to buy these expensive vehicles - for marketing purposes - have extended their time interval maintenance requirements. This is supposedly less expensive. When the problems begin – usually after the initial manufacturer’s warranty, and especially in heavy traffic/pollution areas like Chicagoland… This is where we begin to see many of these cars come to Dakota-K with costly repairs. These vehicles needed to be regularly serviced to help avoid expensive repairs.
The main point – We have partnered with this company for years. If a covered repair happened, we have had absolutely no problem with BG paying their written plan coverage amount. Does it cover everything – no it doesn’t. That is why we think that if you put $200 aside each month – in an interest-bearing account … that’s $2,400 a year. If you can avoid the use of the fund for general maintenance, after 3 years you will have a nice emergency fund if you need it. If not, it is still yours – not something you have paid to an insurance company.
Vehicle maintenance is so important. Following this plan will give added value, no matter how many miles are on the vehicle. Plus, the plan is transferable!
Starting the plan before the vehicle reaches 50,000 miles gives the most protection. The next level is before 75,000 miles. If your vehicle has more than 75,000 miles, talk to one of our service advisors for more information.
Because we are in an area with high traffic, along with extremes of heat and cold - we are recommending oil changes with BG Product additives every 7,500 miles, and a tire rotation to help maintain tires. (By the way, when you buy tires here along with the road hazard warranty, those tire rotations are free). For low mileage vehicles, we recommend this service once per year. (BP plan coverage will be there for you as long as you don’t exceed 10,000 miles before your next service)
To begin and to maintain the lifetime protection, the vehicle has to be no more than 20 years old and meet the mileage requirements at the time of the first service and all you have to do is stick to the service schedule listed below!
