In 2024 we will be in our 50th year. We’ve survived because we care about our co-workers and our customers. We offer great benefits along with continuing education. We don’t work nights, weekends or major holidays.

As we were putting together the information about our (almost) 50 years in business, we asked our team members why they liked working with us. Brayan: At Dakota-K we all work as a team creating a great working environment. The fun moments, from an occasional joke, or when we happen to be in the front office together where we all have a good time joking around for a few minutes; making this a great place to be.

I find satisfaction in the fact that we stand behind our work, we know that vehicles are being repaired the proper way and in our good reputation that has been created over almost 50 years!

Isaac: I enjoy working at Dakota-K because each day is a new learning experience, and honestly, every day is enjoyable because I get along with my co-workers. We all help each other and each day I find myself smiling and laughing. I find a great deal of satisfaction from working on a variety of vehicles. I’m proud to be a part of the Dakota-K team because I know I’m helping our customers and I’m doing it the right way by taking pictures and showing proof to the customer of the repair needed. Not all shops do what we do. I appreciate that Dakota-K pays for our continuing education, sending us to seminars and classes.

Andres: I like working at Dakota-K for multiple reasons, the main one being the brilliant team we have here. We all try to help each other out and we all get along well—there is no animosity. There are many fun moments, periodically enjoying a joke or a little prank, but nothing too crazy. I find myself laughing when Steve or John crack a joke. The winter party we have each year is a fun time. I get a great deal of satisfaction from learning something new each day and I’m grateful for Steve and John taking the time to teach me the tricks of the trade to get the job done the right way.

Doug: I enjoy working at Dakota-K because of the good crew, and the light-hearted atmosphere. I get immense satisfaction from applying my skills and knowledge to each job. The functions we have away from the shop are always an enjoyable time to get together.

Matt: I love working at Dakota K primarily because of the unparalleled care we extend to our customers. Our shop is rooted in genuine transparency and honesty, both in the information we provide and the services we offer, ensuring that every customer leaves with their expectations met and exceeded. It's a place where positivity and readiness to assist are part of your everyday work schedule. Everyone, from technicians to front desk staff, carries a good mood and an eager willingness to help out, creating not just a workplace, but a community within.

Gia & John: combined their thoughts: Why do we like working at Dakota-K? It’s the people—whether it’s the staff or the customers, the people make it great. Then there are the moments in the shop that are the most memorable like the strange things that get pulled out of cars; whether it’s a traffic cone or a giant nest of something a critter created on an engine or collaborating on resolving a problem when it takes more than one tech. They figure it out and repair it together. Adding to that, it’s the smiling or laughing that happens every day whether it’s with the customers or with coworkers on the job or when we’ve had our celebrations at Dave and Buster’s, Fox & the Hound, or on-site during Covid. We get a great deal of satisfaction from being able to get people back on the road. It’s never convenient having your vehicle in the shop, so we try to make it as smooth as possible, getting their vehicle back to them so they can get on with their lives. Last, but not least, it’s wonderful when you tell people that you work at Dakota-K and they say, “Oh, I love that place”, or “That’s the best place—so honest!” Those responses make you feel very proud to be a part of Dakota-K!

The job is most enjoyable knowing the peace of mind that we've given our customers while helping with their car troubles. There is a genuine sense of pride when we have earned our customer's trust for life.
