Since 1974, our focus and commitment to giving our customers a great experience has allowed us to remain here for these many years. Our team has the same culture, knowing that “Peace of Mind”, quality of service and attention to detail for our wonderful customers is what Dakota-K was built on. We are all thankful that our customer area has grown… Many of the individuals (kids that grew up here & others) that moved further out in the suburbs have continued to depend on us for their auto repair needs. Rest assured, by working together, this current team does their part to give you the very best service our customers have come to depend on.
A master of intricate technical automotive challenges, Steve is the guy we can all count on. He's worked at Dakota K most of his adult life, after helping his father, the founder, in the shop and pumping gasoline for customers as a teen. Not only did Steve complete high school early, but he's a graduate of Wyoming Tech, has completed his Service Electronic Training and attained a certificate in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Chicago. When he's not diagnosing the intermittent issues or emissions problems that our customers bring to us on a daily basis, Steve is spending time with his wife Karen and their two children, Jason and Kim.

John started working on cars with his dad when he was young and decided he wanted to be a mechanic. At 18, he began at jiffy lube and attended Lincoln tech. After he graduated, he worked at Firestone for almost 15 years and started at Dakota K in January 2009. John has been an extremely valuable member of our team, giving his time and energy to help Steve create great young technicians. Our industry, as in others, is in dire need of more of these valuable young people! John has two adult sons and in his spare time enjoys his friends and family, woodworking, hiking and a good glass of whiskey!
Meet Doug. His interest in the automotive industry began with his father, a mechanical engineer. He thoroughly enjoys working with his hands – leading him to attend Lincoln Technical University, and to work at Dakota-K beginning in 2009. His obsession with tools comes from his desire to get the job done efficiently. Doug loves spending time with his daughter, Katie, who is now an anthropology student at Northern Illinois University. In his spare time, he can often be found in the great outdoors riding his ATV, hunting, fishing, or camping.
